WELCOME TO THE OCEANIC TIDES
              ANIMATION DEMO

The oceanic tides displayed here are based on the
University of Texas tides model Version 3.0. This model
was derived from satellite altimetry data obtained by
the TOPEX/POSEIDON satellite. Only heights between
-3 to +3 meters are shown.

The tides shown were measured once per hour on 
January 1st 1997.


MENU OPTIONS
------------

File Menu:
    Select "Quit" to exit the demonstration.

View Menu:
    Select "Colors" to start the XLOADCT application,
    which allows you to choose a new color table
    for the animation.

About Menu:
    Select "About this Animation" to display this
    help text.


FEATURES OF THE TIDES DEMO
--------------------------

    The following graphical user interface elements
    allow you to control the demo.

    <<Triangle pointing to the left >>
        Click this button to play the animation
	backwards.

    <<Solid square >>
        Click this button to stop the animation.

    <<Triangle pointing to the right >>
        Click this button to play the animation 
	forwards.

   <<Left and right arrows >>
        Click this button to cause the animation to
	reverse direction when it reaches the end or
	beginning.

   <<Animation Speed slider >>
        Adjust this slider to select a faster or slower
	rate of display.

   <<Animation Frame slider >>
        Adjust this slider to display a particular frame.
	The slider is only available if the "Active Slider"
	checkbox is checked.

   <<Active Slider checkbox>>
        Click this checkbox to select a particular frame
	or to show the current frame number when the animation
	is in progress.

   <<END ANIMATION>>
        Click this button to exit the demo.

   <<COLORS... >>
       Click this button to start the XLOADCT application,
